Love All Around Me
June 30, 2007
The last item on my “Highlights of the Day” post reminds me of a song I wrote back in late February. I’ve been sitting here for 10 minutes trying to think of a clever way to introduce the song – you know, kind of explain what I was thinking when I wrote it. But I just can’t seem come up with anything. Maybe no explanation or introduction is needed. How about I just jot the words down and let my readers (Did I say readers?! Silly me!
I think I am my only reader!) interpret it for themselves?
Love All Around Me
The morning dawns, it comes in singing
Bright star drive the dark away
Strong and good and true and holy,
showing me another way
Love shining down on me, warming my heart soothing my soul
Soft gentle mother’s touch, pulling me in
leading me home
Leading me home
As it was in the beginning
is now and will be ’til the end
By love created, freely given,
received and given back again
Love washing over me, filling the spaces, making me whole
Sweet, tender, warm embrace
Peace it enfolds me, holding me close
Holding me close
Hand in hand we walk together
living out the mystery
Strong and good and true and holy
Love binds us and it sets us free
Love all around me, lifting me up out of the cold
Pure, joyful melody
cradles me safely,
carries me home
Carries me home

Not a Picky Eater

What can I say? She’s darling, isn’t she?! Lovable, huggable, kissable! But no one kissed poor Clara on this day – Henry’s 6th birthday, June 23rd 2007 – for fear of getting a taste of her goose poop snack.
Yes, this sweet girl is my only child (that I know of) who has ever eaten goose poop! And she did it twice in one day.
A record in the Shoe family, for sure!

Lily’s a teenager now! Thirteen years ago I gave birth to this beautiful girl, my third child, my second daughter, and the light of my life in so many ways.
To be continued.
